A TOTAL fire ban has been announced for the Central Ranges on Saturday with warm, windy weather predicted for the region.

Well above average temperatures are expected and with all of NSW declared in drought, firefighters have urged the public to take care during the very high fire danger weather.
The total fire ban commences at midnight on Friday and runs until midnight on Saturday.
The local government areas included in the total fire ban are: Bathurst, Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Lithgow, Mid-Western, Oberon and Orange.
On Saturday, Bathurst is predicted to reach a top of 24 degrees, with the mercury also expected to be warm in Blayney (21 degrees), Cowra (26), Lithgow (23), Mudgee (27), Oberon (24) and Orange (21).
A total fire ban has also been declared for the Blue Mountains and Sydney due to severe fire danger on Saturday.
Under severe and very high fire danger, the NSW Rural Fire Service provides the following advice:
- Well prepared homes that are actively defended can provide safety during a fire
- Follow your Bush Fire Survival Plan and remain vigilant
- Keep informed by listening to local radio, watching television news broadcasts and monitoring www.rfs.nsw.gov.au.
