Cabonne Council said significant snowfalls are not expected but it would close boom gates on the mountain access roads on advice from the State Emergency Service.
The council said the advice received from the SES said the cold front moving through the Central West on Saturday would “brinig a very cold air mass overnight on Saturday into Sunday”.
“However, this air mass is expected to be quite dry after the front, with insufficient moisture to see significant snowfall.”
The council said Oberon Plateau and Mount Canobolas above 1000 metres, with “falls, if any, expected to be very light, with not much more than a dusting of snow expected”.
The roads will be reassessed on Sunday morning to see if the mountain can be re-opened.
