According to www.weatherzone.com.au, Friday’s top temperature will hit 21 degrees, a stark contrast to Sunday’s chilly minimum of -1 degrees.
Weatherzone’s Ben Domensino said some places in south-east Australia are registering their lowest September temperatures in years.
According to Mr Domensino, a cold air mass combined with clear skies and light winds is producing unusually cold mornings, while the lack of rain in recent months is likely to have contributed to this late-season chill, with overnight cooling enhanced when the air is dry and skies are clear.
Unfortunately, there appears to be little to no rain in the city’s seven-day forecast, with the 80 per cent chance of between one and five millimetres predicted for Friday the only meaningful moisture to speak of.
