Springing to life with colour: Flowers in bloom as Orange leaves winter behind | Photos

IT’S a wonderful time of year to enjoy Orange’s Cook Park.

After a drier-than-usual winter, an upturn in the temperature and some recent rain has Orange’s most cherished public park looking fantastic.

Central Western Daily photographer Jude Keogh took her camera there for a couple of hours last week and returned with these wonderful photos of the colourful flowers in full bloom.

And the heavy rain of Friday and Saturday are sure to only enhance those colours on the coming days and weeks, especially coming on the back of one of the city’s driest winters.

According to results from www.weatherzone.com.au, Orange received 103.8 millimetres of rain in June, July and August, significantly less that the 50-year average of 265.2 millimetres.

Encouragingly, almost 20 millimetres was found in rain gauges on Friday, with further significant falls on Saturday.
