LETTERS TO THE EDITOR | Hopes McRae will raise hand for deputy’s role next year

LAST TIME AROUND: Councillor Joanne McRae casting her vote in the deputy mayor's election in 2017.
LAST TIME AROUND: Councillor Joanne McRae casting her vote in the deputy mayor's election in 2017.

IT was very disappointing to see Orange City councillor Joanne McRae deposed from the position of deputy mayor.

In the council chamber she speaks clearly, precisely to the point of the discussion, unlike a number of the male councillors who try to speak to the proposal only to mumble and waffle on, making no clear contribution to the debate.

She represented council as deputy mayor at functions with dignity and grace, a far cry from that we have seen from others.

I do hope councillor McRae will again stand for the deputy position in 12 months’ time, and in the meantime residents should let all the councillors know that they were completely dissatisfied at their action on Tuesday night
