Four candidates contested the vote: Cr Romano, incumbent Joanne McRae and councillors Kevin Duffy and Scott Munro.
The candidates were gradually eliminated during successive rounds of voting.
Cr Duffy’s three votes in earlier rounds proved pivotal, all going to Cr Romano in the final round.
