On Saturday the Cargo brigade firefighter was one of 18 volunteers to join a strike team, which was deployed to help fight fires in northern NSW.
“It’s just to give everybody a break up there,” Mr Scott said.
“I’m a semi-retired farmer so I’ve got time and a fair bit of experience, it’s an opportunity to help somebody out.
“As a farmer, usually you want to protect you property, most farmers usually join the RFS.”
Mr Scott previously served with the Bolygamy brigade near West Wyalong.
His is now a member of the Cargo brigade and said the volunteers from that brigade are often called out, but mostly to attend car accidents on Cargo Road.
