It's a sad reflection on our society, that places of learning are often the targets of vandals and arsonists.
Of course, this raises the obvious question of why people deliberately set out to damage and destroy schools.
Those of us who have worked in schools can usually recall the costly damage done, and in some cases this is almost beyond belief.
Readers may have their own answers as to why this happens.
I gave up trying to come up with an answer many years ago.
