That’s the view of Orange business chamber president Ash Brown who said a tour of regional areas including Orange should be a priority.
“I’m hoping he comes out here and sees how the drought is affecting farmers and rural communities,” Mr Brown said.
“It was fairly late when the government realised the farmers needed a hand, only in the last few weeks.
“That was too little, too late.”
Mr Morrison will become Australia’s 30th Prime Minster after a leadership spill which saw Malcolm Turnbull resign on Friday.
Josh Frydenberg was elected as the deputy leader of the Liberal Party.
Mr Brown said he also hoped the government put tax cuts for business back on its agenda.
“Tax cuts for business was on the agenda and have been taken off by Mr Turnbull. We’re hoping they will be put back on the table.”
Member for Calare Andrew Gee called on the government to return to working on major issues including the drought.
“Australia needs to get back dealing with the pressing issues facing it – the most urgent of which is the worst drought in living memory,” he said.

“At the top of my list is more drought relief, further funding to fix mobile blackspots and increased funding for our regional infrastructure projects.”
Mr Gee said the Liberal Party had to move on from the Malcolm versus Tony wars because “nobody wants to see any more of the political savagery that has been laid before us over the past few days”.
“It’s a vicious cycle that needs to be brought to a close,” he said.

Mr Gee backed the Liberal Party members’ vote to elect Mr Morrison.
“As chair of the Coalition’s Economics and Finance Backbench Committee, I meet with him regularly,” he said.
“He’s a smart guy and he’s certainly across all the economic issues facing Australia, you won’t trip him up on any of those, that’s for sure.”
