A slow moving low-pressure system and trough will be making its way across the country this week before picking up moisture and slowing further over north-eastern NSW and southeastern Queensland.
This system could bring quite substantial thunderstorm activity over the state as well.
These storms could produce heavy rainfall, damaging wind gusts and even hail, mostly west of the Great Dividing Range.
Unfortunately, according to weatherzone.com.au’s seven-day forecast, Friday is the only day Orange will see any meaningful rain, with Sunday’s 90 per cent chance of between one and five millimetres the only other moisture on the horizon.
So far in August, rain gauges at Orange Regional Airport, where weatherzone takes its readings, have seen 36 millimetres, well down on the long-term monthly average of 96.5 millimetres.
