Announced on Monday, the relationship will see Wangarang clients visit the club three times each week to collect the empty bottles, plastics and cans which have been used by patrons and staff.
The not-for-profit will then take bulk loads of the recyclables to the Orange and Bathurst ‘return and earn’ sites to collect the return fee.
Services’ club president Graham Gentles said he would like to see fellow members of the Orange Liquor Accord consider a similar program at their premises.
“We see this as another way to contribute to our local community, as well as conserving our environment and being sustainably aware,” Mr Gentles said.
The services’ club staff are responsible for sorting the recycling into the appropriate colour coded bins to make the job less messy for the men and women doing the collecting.
“Staff have been very receptive to the initiative, actively sorting recycling for the two new recycling bins in our bars and back of house areas,” Mr Gentles said.
The club reported that Wangarang picked up 4260 items from the premises in the first three weeks.
