Beat Lithgow Workies.
The green and golds scraped into fifth on points difference alone and now face Lithgow in the elimination final at Wade Park on Sunday, a side they drew 24-all with in round five and lost 34-10 to in round 14.
The latter loss kick-started CYMS’ less than ideal run into the semi-finals, the green and golds won just one of their last four games.
Although Workies only picked up two wins through that period they were substantially more consistent than CYMS throughout the rest of the season and will enter Sunday’s clash, which kicks off at 12.45pm, as heavy favourites as a result.
The situation is similar for CYMS’ under-18 side, although they’ll play in the qualifying final, from 11.30am.
They have a second chance after finishing third, but they’re yet to beat Bathurst St Pat’s in 2018.
The last time they did was last year’s decider.
In league tag Hawks face Bathurst Panthers in Sunday’s qualifying final while the green and golds take on Blayney in the elimination final on Saturday.
The latter game kicks off at 3.50pm at Bathurst’s Carrington Park, all the games are being played later, while the former at 10.30am at Wade Park.
