As a regular user of council parks and other areas where people are allowed to walk their dogs I find that there is an element of these people who fail to pick up their dog faeces in all areas that I use.

In my opinion, unless council takes a more proactive role in enforcing this regulation, nothing will change.
Where are our council rangers?
I have not seen any in the last several years I have been walking my dog in various different areas that dogs are allowed.
If clearly identified rangers or other enforcing officer(s) patrolled these areas on a regular basis, and indeed issued fines if necessary, word would soon get out that it is best to obey the rules.
Years ago rangers would be seen in these areas on a regular basis.
Why do we have signs that threaten on-the-spot fines if none are ever issued to offenders who do not pick up after their dogs?

I have had my dog attacked recently by a dog not on a lead, fortunately he was not hurt, unlike a dog I had some years ago who did get injured by a dog out of control.
On this occasion the rangers dealt with it.
Something needs to be done.
