“Everybody is jumping on the wagon,” Mr Parker said.
The history making draw comes after no entry has had all seven winning numbers and the Powerball in a single game for eight consecutive weeks.
Not to be left out of the running, the Prince Street store owner said he would be securing himself a tickets before online sales close at 7.30pm on Thursday and that he was already hatching retirement plans should he be the lucky winner.
“You can’t win if you’re not in,” he said, admitting that if it he took the prize shoppers may have to find somewhere else to pick up their newspaper on Friday.
For good reason too, if one entry takes home the entire jackpot it will be the largest individual Australian lottery prize ever won.
The current record is held by a couple of Hervey Bay grandparents who won $70 million in 2016.
