According to the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) Orange, along with other areas of the Central West, can expect a decent covering on Sunday, which would be the second snowfall in the space of eight days.
According to weatherzone.com.au’s seven-day forecast, the temperature will fall to -1 degree in the early hours of Sunday, fueling the likelihood of snow.
At this stage, models are suggesting that this system has the potential to produce even colder temperatures than what were experienced over the weekend just gone.
- Weatherzone’s Graeme Brittain
Monday and Tuesday are predicted to be colder still, with the mercury predicted to plummet to -4 and -3 degrees respectively.
According to weatherzone’s Graeme Brittain, another burst of frigid air is going to push across southeastern Australia this weekend and into early next week.
The frontal system responsible is due to arrive in SA and Victoria on Saturday, then NSW and Queensland through Sunday, with very cold air following in behind, leading to probably snowfalls in Orange and beyond..
“At this stage, models are suggesting that this system has the potential to produce even colder temperatures than what were experienced over the weekend just gone,” Mr Brittain said.
“Unfortunately, the main front does not look to bring much in the way of rainfall to areas that need it the most.”
Mr Brittain said any showers were likely to be of a “wintry nature … which will be particularly noticeable over the tablelands districts of NSW”.
He added that gusty winds will also feature, leading to a significant wind chill factor.
