One of Orange’s most iconic pubs, Kelly’s Rugby Hotel, is likely to be sold after 96 years of ownership by the one family.

Owner and publican Bill Kelly said negotiations were continuing over the sale.

Mr Kelly said the prospective buyer was the O’Hara Group which owns several hotels in NSW.
The group recently took over the Ophir Tavern and is changing the name to the Ophir Hotel.
Mr Kelly, who is also the president of the Orange Liquour Accord, said he would not make further comment until the property sale had been settled.
Three generations of the Kelly family have owned the hotel in Lords Place since 1922.
The hotel website said Mr Kelly’s grandmother, Mary Jane Kelly, opened it as a “simple bar and accommodation” before selling it to her son, Bill Kelly senior.
