Students and professional musicians will join together to celebrate woodwind and brass music next weekend.

The Orange Regional Conservatorium (ORC) will present its annual concert Howling Winds, featuring renowned Australian wind quintet The Chambermaids.

The classically trained professional musicians who play regularly with Australia’s Symphony have offered to work with woodwind and brass musicians to sharpen their skills in an afternoon workshop, then perform alongside the students.

The Chambermaids will also perform a selection of music during the concert which will feature the ORC’s Laith Ismail on Oboe.

Head of woodwind Prem Love invited anyone interested in woodwind, brass or chamber music to come along to the workshop to join in, or just observe and be part of the concert.

“Opportunities for regional musicians to spend time working with and learning from such talented musicians come by rarely and we are incredibly excited to be able to offer the music community of Orange this experience,” she said.

For a more relaxed jam, the workshop will take place on Saturday 18 August at 3pm and the concert will kick off at 5pm at Orange Regional Conservatorium.
