Kinross Wolaroi School’s year 12 Textiles and Design and Visual Arts class combined to show friends, family and creative enthusiasts what’s been keeping the talented senior students busy.
Isabel Lamph drew inspiration for her two piece outfit from the family sheep farm in Carinda.
“For my design I wanted to encapsulate contemporary fashion but using traditional ways of preparing wool,” said Isabel.
For parts of the outfit, the young designer used wool from her family farm which she shore, skirted and spun herself.
The inner lining of its jacket featured material on which she had digitally printed a photo of the family farm.
When marking time comes around, Miss Lamph’s garment will make up 25 per cent of her final year score, its accompanying portfolio will be worth 25 per cent and the exam will be 50 per cent.
On the eve of the year 12 showcase, exams were a distant concern, with the show the primary focus.
“It’s overwhelming that this part is done but I’m really happy with the end result,” said Isabel.
Visual Arts student Kate Payne echoed this sentiment, saying she was “very pleased” with how her photography exhibition had come together.
The 18 year old from West Wyalong photographed scenes from her property which captured the drought conditions and the tough reality of life in regional Australia.
Teacher Toni Bilton said she couldn’t have asked for more from the students.
The Kinross Visual Arts and Textiles Exhibition general event starts at 6:00pm with the textile parade commencing at 6:45pm.
