Organiser Yvette Black said the weather had favoured the event with overnight rain moistening the soil and sunshine brightening the day.
“It’s well over 50 people from children 12 month of age and upwards,” she said.
“Even after the first hour a huge section had been planted out. Quite the space of the area has been planted.
“It’s been a really lovely mix of friends and families out here.
“This is such a lovely community event.”
She said the National Tree Day event had been supported by people from groups and bodies who are involved in the regeneration of the bushland area which sits between the hospital facilities and Gosling Creek Reservoir.
Ms Black said the Bloomfield Bushland advisory group would continue to work to manage the area.
