MYSTERY: The starting gates in a paddock next to the housing estate.
MYSTERY: The starting gates in a paddock next to the housing estate.

Having a great view is always a selling point for a housing estate.

But the Robindale Downs estate near Charles Sturt University has more than rolling hills to offer potential buyers.

It has old horse racing starting gates sitting in an adjacent paddock.

Apart from missing number 12 the yellow and blue mobile gates look to be in a reasonable condition.

The gates are clearly visible from many of the blocks in the estate off Leeds Parade.

But that’s where our knowledge of them ends.

Can any Central Western Daily readers identify which track the gates came from or how they came to be sitting in the paddock in North Orange?
