As many Orange people are aware this writer can produce a left-field alternative. So here goes ...

A recurring need for Orange city centre is for more car parking convenient to the town centre. So why not preserve the Myer facade and erect a multi-storey car park behind that facade with, of course, a user charge for parking there?

POLL: Have your say …

Is there merit to reader Conrad Silvester's idea?

Further, the oncoming rush of electrically-powered vehicles has raised various issues related to their need to be recharged and provision for recharging of these vehicles at shopping sites.

When building this multi-storey park the provision for electric charging throughout would be easy to install and provide a growing alternative revenue stream for the owner/lessee down the road.
