The journalist for Pedestrian TV, which boasts a Facebook following of over a quarter of a million people, Chantelle Schmidt spent last weekend in Orange as a guest of tourism organisation Orange360.
With NSW Government tourism figures revealing 15-29 year olds are the largest group of visitors to the region, Orange360’s Caddie Marshall said targeting that audience has the advantage of creating lifelong fans.
“It’s about educating people early on – they’ll fall in love with the region and we’ll be on their minds in the future for their next weekend away,” Ms Marshall said.
Ms Marshall said the reaction to the article on Facebook shows that while many of its readers have visited the region in the past, new spots had opened or there were places they’d missed and were now talking about returning for.
More than 86 people “liked” the article while more than 100 young readers discussed the merits of revisiting or taking their first road trip to Orange.
Among the places she visited for the online publication, Ms Schmidt raved about taste testing at Small Acres Cyder, glamping at Nashdale Wines, dining at Charred Kitchen and Bar and brunching at the Agrestic Grocer.
