Convenor of local Mums 4 Refugees group Anna Noonan said the supplies she delivered to a caseworker’s house and to the House of Welcome in Granville came quickly from members.
“We are a newly-formed group so people were really excited,” Ms Noonan said.
The group has formed primarily through Facebook and is made up of concerned mums eager to lend a hand.
Their first collection will go to a recently arrived family from Iraq with three children, which includes a new baby; a single mum with five children including a seven-month-old; and a mother with a seven-week-old baby experiencing severe financial hardship.
House of Welcome caseworker Jessica Punch said that it is the work of women like Ms Noonan which enabled them to help asylum seekers in NSW.
