A spokesman for the mine operators Newcrest said processing work restarted at 1am on Monday.
“Processing, everything is back to normal,” he said.
“All the regulatory authorities have been notified.”
The spokesman said there were no safety issues or damage from the quake which struck at 12.46pm about two kilometres south-west of the mine’s tailings dams.
Cadia Valley Operations general manager Peter Sharpe said underground staff were safe and well after the earthquake.
“All employees in the underground operations moved to refuge chambers and all are accounted for and safe,” he said.
It was the third earthquake near the mine this year and sixth significant one in the past 18 months.
Last year an earthquake measuring 4.3 stopped full production at the mine for six months.
