I too am an environmental consultant. In my professional life I spend my days ensuring that proposed developments strike the right balance between protection of the environment and using land in a manner that benefits all of us.
Colin is absolutely correct, the Canobolas SCA is a special place. That is why it is classified as a State Conservation Area.
Mountain bikers by their nature are a passionate mob, just the sort you would want to be advocating for the State Conservation Area
However, Colin has failed to demonstrate that the proposed trails would have an adverse impact on the species and habitat that make the SCA special.
There are mountain bike parks in some of the most sensitive environmental areas in Australia and around the world – without significant impacts.
Mountain bikers by their nature are a passionate mob, just the sort you would want to be advocating for the SCA.
POLL: Have your say …
The mountain bikers have a long history of working with State Forests, the Environmental Protection Agency and councils to manage dumping in Kinross State Forest.
Colin can expect the same level of cooperation and collaboration in relation to the Mount Canobolas SCA.
Finally, the proposed trails will help cement Orange’s reputation as a great place for visitors to come as spend a few days, ride a few trails, visit our wineries and restaurants and stay in our accommodation, all of which makes Orange and surrounds a more vibrant and exciting place to live.
