I live with: My partner and two hungry kittens.
How long have you lived in Orange? Since the start of this year, six months.
Hobbies? Sports, music, eating and drinking.
What did you want to be when you were little? Zookeeper, astronaut and lumberjack.
Where do you work now and how long have you been there? Sisters rock restaurant at Borrodell Winery, since January.
Job title: Head chef.
Job description: I design the menu and cook the food for our guests.
What other jobs have you had? I worked in a bar when I was a food student, before training as a chef.
What training have you done? I studied at the NZ equivalent of TAFE, but I learnt the most in the kitchen. A long spell as kitchenhand before I got to cook was a great learning experience.
Why did you choose this job? I saw a wonderful opportunity here because of the incredible produce growing here at Borrodell and the surrounding region.
Best thing about your job? Making people really happy with food that I’ve cooked with great care.
What is the worst thing? You have to get used to missing out on things. You’re often working when everybody else is having fun.
Where do you see yourself in five years? I’d like to make a strong contribution to Orange’s dining scene and have one of the best restaurants in town.
What advice would you give? You need to enjoy the craft and truly love good produce and cooking. If you don’t love it, it’s too much hard work.
