Especially donated pizzas destined for families seeking respite from homelessness.
Housing Plus coordinator Toni Parker said clients in its shelter and in temporary housing were very happy to receive a slice of a Pizza Capers surprise on Monday, after the restaurant contacted them to offer 12 pizzas and some chicken wings.
“It’s great to feel our clients have support in the community, especially with these cold nights we’ve been having,” Mrs Parker said.
Each year Housing Plus supports over 1000 residents who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Orchestrator of the donation, Pizza Capers manager Sam Livingstone, said after over-catering for an event, he’d been all too happy to provide supper for some of those locals in need.
“We didn’t do it for the recognition, we did it because it’s the right thing to do,” Mr Livingstone said.
“We’ve all got to look after each other living in a country town.”
