Don’t call me ‘mate’: Magistrate reprimands drug driver before sentence
A man who appeared in Orange Local Court on Monday for driving with methamphetamine in his system was reprimanded by magistrate David Day for repeatedly calling him ‘mate’.

“You’ve been in court often enough in your life as an adult to know you don’t refer to a magistrate as mate,” Mr Day said.
He fined John James Doyle, 48, of Garema Road, $220 and disqualified him from driving for three months for the April 24 drug-driving offence.
Doyle was stopped by police in Summer Street at 9.45am.
