Travellers on the Mitchell Highway on the western outskirts of Bathurst pulled over in their droves to admire and photograph this ice-covered tree.
While it’s extremely unlikely the dazzling sight was created naturally – no other nearby trees had close to the same sparkle – Monday morning’s frost and chill served to preserve the effect, so much so that it was still attracting motorists’ attention at noon.
Images of the spectacular tree which were posted to social media on Monday afternoon described it “absolutely magical”.
It’s hard to disagree.
