Magistrate David Day fined Daniel Mark Rudd, 31, of Dalton Street, a total of $880, with individual $220 fines for each offence, and gave him four six-month driving disqualifications, which will run concurrently.
“Drugs have got Mr Rudd into a lot of trouble haven’t they,” Mr Day said.
“All appear to be random drug testing.
“For someone to be detected by random drug testing within four months, [it] must mean Mr Rudd must drive around a lot, or on roads that are safe for random drug testing.”
The first of the charges was from December 28 when Rudd was stopped by police at 5.30pm in March Street.
He was stopped after police saw a passenager throw a sunglasses pouch, which was discovered to contain an ice pipe and empty resealable plastic bags, from the Holden Commodore ute he was driving.
He told police he’d last smoked methamphetamines on Christmas Day.
Rudd failed another drug test on March 30 when he was stopped on Bathurst Road at 10.50am and was ordered not to drive for 24 hours.
However, the following day at 5.55pm he was stopped while driving in McNamara Street and drug tested again and the drugs were still in his system.
Police said he told them at the station, “I got done yesterday and it’s been 24 hours”.
He failed the fourth drug test at 10.38pm on Wednesday, April 4, in Adina Crescent.
He told police he hadn’t taken drugs since the previous Tuesday.
