On Saturday, the Lachlan Valley Railway will run shuttle rides to Stuart Town and Molong.
And on Sunday the LVR’s 93-year-old rail motors will head to Tarana, between Bathurst and Lithgow, for a Christmas in July celebration, which will include a lunch at the Commercial Hotel and Station Expresso Cafe at Wallerawang.
Lunch will also be held at the Tarana Hotel and at Rydal for the Christmas in July trip but those venues are booked out.
LVR member Luke Bingham helped organise the trip and said there are still plenty of seats available for both trips.
Mr Bingham said a diesel locomotive will be used for the trip.
“We’ve got the big train going, we can take 250 people per trip, there’s plenty of seats,” he said.
“It’s an important way to show people of the Central West the historical value of the historic trains.
“It will take people down memory lane back when they could travel the Central West [by train].
“It’s like a step back in time to the last 1940s.”
LVR spokesman Thomas Barnes said the Saturday shuttle return trips would depart Orange at 9.30am for Stuart Town, 11.45am for Molong and 1.45pm for Stuart Town.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for children or $60 for a family of two adults and two children.
The Stuart Town trips will take just under two hours while the Molong trip will last one hour and 40 minutes.
He said the Sunday train would depart Orange at 10.30am and pick up passengers at Blayney at 11am and Bathurst at 11.50am before arriving at Tarana at 12.35pm.
Be at the station 15 minutes prior to departure.
The train will arrive back in Orange at 5.20pm.
A two-course lunch meal at the Tarana pub, which is next to the station, is included in the price.
Mr Barnes said tickets cost $70 for adults, $40 for children or $180 for a family of four.
“This is an ideal trip to plan a Christmas in July function, be it for work or a social gathering,” he said.
Anyone who cannot attend the Christmas in July lunch on July 15 has a second chance when another trip is made on Sunday, July 29 to Wallerawang.
