The Rotary Club of Orange Daybreak, along with Destination NSW and Orange City Council, are responsible for bringing the show to the city from Friday until Sunday.

Rotary Group’s Murray Paterson said based on feedback from exhibitors organisers believe there is scope to extend the program to a “technology week” looking at other areas of importance to the region, such as health and mining.

Mr Paterson said for a first event organisers couldn’t be happier with the feedback they’d received from the more than 2500 people who attended.

“As far as we are aware this was a first for regional Australia,” Mr Paterson said.

“There will be changes but we’ll get together now and iron that out.”

The timing of the event came into question Mr Paterson said, with some exhibitors requesting a move to when they weren’t focused on preparation for the end of the financial year.

The Rotary Group said it is now considering whether a week-long event in May is plausible.

While most of the attendees were Orange residents, Mr Paterson said one of the exhibitors from Port Macquarie was so impressed she intended to put forward a plan to replicate the show at home.

“All of our exhibitors expressed an interest to come back next year and we’ve had lots of feedback that it was the best presented and best organisation for a show they’ve ever been a part of,” Mr Paterson said.

Mr Paterson said at Friday’s forum a group was formed representing several industries which plans to work together to advance ambitions to create a “smart city”.
