The 4.3 Richter scale magnitude quake on April 14, about four kilometres from the Cadia mine, led to production stopping for about 75 days before a limited amount could resume.
It took a further six months before full production recommenced.
A company statement this week said the claim had been settled.
“The settlement amount is US$155 million (A$209 million) and all cash has been received,” it said.
“The amount will be included in Newcrest’s statutory profit for the 2018 financial year.”
Newcrest head of investor relations Chris Maitland said about $25 million was spent on remediation work including replacing spent ground support after the quake.
“We needed more ground support, we went from using three metre ground support bolts to replacing them with eight metre ground support bolts,” he said.
Mr Maitland said the payout figure included both the company’s net profit loss and the costs of remediation after the event.
In February the company announced its half year statutory profits were down 48 per cent compared to the same period the year before.
“Cadia’s operating and financial performance for the current period was impacted by the effects of the seismic event on April 14, 2017,” it said.
The report said the time taken to progressively restore operations was the “primary driver” of lower gold production for the year.
A spokeswoman said the mine was now operating at full capacity after the quake and the tailings dam wall collapse earlier this year.
“We are still investigating the cause [of the wall collapse],” she said.
“On April 23 the first 200 metres of the Cadia Hill open pit was permitted to be used as a tailings facility.
“This gives approximately 18 months of storage capacity.
“In that time we will continue to work towards permitting the remaining 300 metres of the pit [to be used] and finalising the cause.”
