I’ve read so many comments this week from both genders. I’m upset that it appears that this horrific incident has seemed to push our genders further apart when in fact at times like this we need to come together in love and unify as a community.

Speaking as a father of two daughters I am outraged, sad, scared and upset that my daughters will one day feel unsafe and be at risk of these horrific incidents because there are men out there that pray on women.

But speaking as a male, I’ll put my hand up and say I don’t know what the solution is (and maybe that’s why many of us stay quiet but also maybe it’s why some seem to become so defensive as well), because it all feels so futile and because we (men) don’t have the answer to this problem.

From what I’ve seen in several posts men are made to feel we can solve this by speaking up, by joining protests, and showing anger, but I don’t believe protests and voicing outrage will stop these psychopaths.

I believe that’s what they are and their gender, I don’t believe, is the issue. Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think these people are doing this because they are male, they do this because they are psychopaths, because they are evil.

I wish wholeheartedly I could make the world safe for women to walk alone in dark parks at night, or anywhere for that matter, but I also wish I could solve so many other issues that plague the world due to psychopaths and antisocial human beings, including drunken violence, child abuse, molestation and sex trafficking, workplace bullying, etc.

What is the solution? I don’t know, maybe there isn’t one. The one thing I’m fairly confident about is the gender wars I’ve seen going on – from both sides of the argument – don’t bring us any closer to a solution.

If anything, it looks like it’s driving us apart.
