High school students from year 7 to 12 will play alongside Catherine McAuley Catholic Primary School and St Mary's Catholic Primary School year three to six students for two well rehearsed songs on June 29.
James Sheahan music coordinator Jacqueline Shields said practise sessions have been a little chaotic but it is all coming together.
“The little ones are very excited,” said Mrs Shields.
The older students will perform concerts on both Friday and Saturday night at Kenna Hall.
“They’ve been rehearsing throughout the year, coming in and practicing in their lunch times,” said Mrs Shields.
For two nights the community is invited to bring a picnic dinner to the hall to enjoy the performances.
The concert is a fundraiser which raises money for musical equipment at the school.
Mrs Shields said while the younger students are extremely enthusiastic, some of the older students are exceptionally talented.
Year 12 students who intend to pursue musical careers will perform music from a range of disciplines.
Crowds will have the chance to hear covers as diverse as Jimi Hendrix renditions to Autumn Leaves – Jazz Standard.
“There are ensembles and solos, with a huge variety of styles and capabilities,” Mrs Shields said.
“We try to cater to a wide variety of audiences and to our students interests.”
Mrs Shields said part of the purpose of the concert is to foster community between the three schools, their students and their families.
Parents, families and friends are invited to Kenna Hall on Hill Street on Friday, June 29 to hear the three schools combined or Saturday, June 30 for just James Sheahan students.
The schools have asked the audience to arrive at 7pm for a 7:30pm start.
Tickets are available at James Sheahan Catholic High School office.
