Amid a sea of people rugged up in thick coats and scarves to fend off the near freezing temperatures in Orange this week Ron Gander cut a distinctive sight.
It was six degrees and with the windchill factor it was only one degree, but he was in short sleeves.
He said he didn’t feel the cold after a lifetime in Orange.
Mr Gander said he worked outside for the County Council for 30 years and excess clothing provided safety risks.
So he said for the first weeks of winter they wore light clothing to acclimatise.
“[But] if you picked your heat I’d rather be in the hot than the cold,” he said.
