Opal wholesalers, Victor Ho and Chloe Ho frequently travelled through Orange on the way from Lightning Ridge to their shop in Sydney, falling in love with the place on the way.
Having brought a house here six month ago, the couple have now set out to ensure all their friends and colleagues in the city know what they’re missing out on.
Chef Esti Garcia is the first guest to travel from Sydney at Mr Ho’s recommendation, to experience the produce for himself.
The award winning Colombian patissier gave a chocolate making demonstration at Orange Farmer’s Market on Saturday morning, before making his way to Soiree on Lords Place to create pintxos which Michael Walker will pair with his Faisan Estate wines.
“Without the intention to do so I discovered something unexpected – going to the orchards to pick my own fruit and speaking to the farmer, there’s just no where I can do that in Sydney,” said Mr Garcia.
With the mission in mind, the chef’s table is set to become a regular fixture at the market, as are collaborative events between wine makers, grower’s and Sydney chefs.
Mr Ho says he is currently in discussion with chefs to guest at the upcoming Winter Fire Festival.
