Thomas O’Brien championed the idea after his grandfather died from the disease.
Thomas said it had been a tough time but having the support of the school had made all the difference.
“It means the world to me,” Thomas said.
Thomas raised more than $9000, while friend Daniel Ritchie raised more than $1000.
Teachers Drew Bale and Tony Kay also got behind the Mark Hughes Foundation fundraiser, losing beards and hair to support the boys.
The school raised $1000 through gold coin donations, helped along by an $80 donation by student Andrew Thomsen who also went under the clippers.
