The veteran Muswellbrook trainer had a then two-year-old Alliterate take out the famed Wellington Boot in March of 2016.
Since then Alliterate has gone to become one of Farrell’s most consistent performers, having contested a number of country cups as well as provincial and metropolitan events.
In fact, the mare’s most recent win came in the Schweppes Handicap (1300m) at Rosehill last September.
If Alliterate does start at Wellington on Thursday it will be her first race at the track since the victory in the Boot.
As well as that, she will take on a number of classy gallopers in the Open Handicap.
Mudgee’s Gayna Williams nominated her highly-rated Galaxy Warrior, while Canberra trainer Nick Olive put forward Bring A Secret and Annandale Lass was nominated by Cessnock trainer Dean Jackson.
Hometown hope Jim McMillan looks like an outsider having nominated Mabrouk, one of the lowest-rated horses put forward, while four Dubbo chances are likely to get a start.
Connie Greig nominated Our Sarastro, while Clint Lundholm’s Top Magic and the Garry Lunn-trained pair of Oskastar and Cuban Lass are also in contention.
Thursday’s seven-race meeting attracted 136 nominations in total.
The most popular race is the 900m Maiden Plate, which attracted 28 nominations in total.
Final fields are released on Tuesday.
