A warning is being issued after a phone scam emerged involving con artists calling people claiming to represent NBN and asking for credit card details.
The caller tells the victim that they are eligible for credit towards installation at their premises, but no money is transferred to them after bank details are handed over.
Police are urging people not to provide any personal information to callers who make claims like this and to contact local police as soon as possible.
Police said people should never provide bank details to a person who cold-calls and they should not give out financial PIN numbers or passwords to anyone.
They also urged people not to fall for the pressure that scam callers could apply, using detailed scripts in an attempt to make people make snap decisions and hand details over without thinking carefully.
