Two weeks ago my Telstra connection dropped out around 4pm and checking the Telstra outages site said it was 'planned maintenance'. If it was planned they could have warned me.
Each day the estimated time to get back online was pushed back until Friday night. Then I was supposed to be able to get back online but there was no signal to the modem.
A week later and apparently a new modem is on its way but who knows when it will get here or if it will fix the problem?
A day after that my 'home' phone went dead due to the NBN cut-off date arriving. I called Southern Phone on the Thursday and organised a change over to the NBN for that line.
Six days later I got a text to say the line was swapped for data but not phone operation, and the next day the modem arrived. Again, no signal to the modem.
So I've been without internet or land line phone from two companies that I'm paying for two weeks
I'm assuming some response to the triple-0 fiasco and the NBN cut-off date are causing havoc for Orange residents and their telecommunications.
Even when the NBN was 'working' I downgraded my plan from 100mps to 50mps because even though I have an excellent physical connection to the node, congestion at either the node or by Telstra not buying enough capacity means I only get 40mps at best these days, and often even less.
How many other people around Orange have found themselves without a landline phone or internet recently?
