The Orange Girl Guides are celebrating their 94th year in 2018, and have been selling cookies for decades in an age-old tradition repeated all across Australia.
While they no longer go door-to-door, Girl Guides still sell cookies at stalls at Rotary and Farmer’s Markets, as well as at North Orange and elsewhere around the colour city.
However, they won’t be selling cookies on Saturday, which is the National Girl Guide Biscuit Day, as they’re so good at selling cookies that they’ve already raced through their last shipment of biscuits.
Girl Guides district manager and membership adviser Yvonne MacRae said Girl Guides were still going strong in Orange, with 50 families and about 100 people involved.
“We’re about empowering young girls and women through camps, through activities and try to build leadership and advocacy.”
