Winifred Daphne Harris, 41 of Henry Street, faced Orange Local Court via video link on Monday, pleading guilty to resisting police, intimidation and contravening an AVO during an incident at Colour City Caravan Park.
According to police, Harris and a man were watching television inside the caravan when she suddenly ripped the television from the bracket and when the man tried to calm her, she grabbed a kettle, followed by a pair of scissors and pointed them towards his mid-section.
Fearing he would be stabbed, the man called police.
When officers arrived, Harris struggled before eventually being arrested.
She needs to be supervised so she doesn’t fall through the cracks.
- Magistrate David Day
The incident followed another at the caravan park in March when Harris threatened the man with a screwdriver, two shoplifting offences in January at Woolworths in Cowra where she stole meat and glue, and assault and destroy property charges in December when she punched the victim in the left shoulder and bent or ripped the legs off an outdoor table and gazebo.
Solicitor Peter Ringbauer said his client had an acquired brain injury, but she had decided not to associate with the man in future.
“She’s sorry for what she’s done, she does accept she can be described as a slow learner,” he said.
Magistrate David Day sentenced her to seven months’ jail with three months’ non-parole because Harris breached numerous good behaviour bonds for similar offences.
He said the offences were aggravated because they were committed in the home of the victim.
“She needs to be supervised so she doesn’t fall through the cracks,” he said.
