Council will undertake 79 individual projects in Canowindra, Cargo, Cudal, Cumnock, Eugowra, Manildra, Molong, Mullion Creek and Yeoval which were requested by the residents of those towns and villages.
This has followed an extensive consultation process. We asked local progress associations to suggest projects for their towns and villages and then we called on residents to tell us what they wanted.
The response was amazing, with 200 projects put forward.
Council staff then assessed and costed those suggestions before coming up with the final short list approved by councillors.
Obviously I can’t list all the projects here, but they include infrastructure such as a new electronic scoreboard at Cargo football ground to new street furniture and gardens, barbecues, play equipment, the installation of exercise equipment in several parks, swimming pool upgrades and cemetery improvements.
We will also be undertaking major tree planting programs in each town and village and a further $50,000 will be allocated to each town and village for general tidy up work.
As part of the program, Cabonne Council has established its own tree nursery at Canowindra, which will provide plant stock for the tree planting program and the ongoing replacement of street trees which have reached the end of the lifespans.

FREE MICROCHIPPING FOR DOGS AND CATS
Pet owners in Cabonne will be able to take advantage of free dog and cat microchipping offered by Cabonne Council this month.
The service will be provided on Wednesday at council’s Canowindra depot in Armstrong Street on the northern outskirts of the town. The session will run from 10am to 1pm.
There is no limit on the number of dogs or cats an owner can have microchipped, but a time slot must be booked for each animal.
Pet owners must be aged 18 years or over and all dogs and cats must be on a leash or in a cage.
A limited number of free dog or cat tri-annual vaccination vouchers is also be available for Cabonne residents only and can be obtained by contacting the council’s Environmental Services Department on 6392 3247.
The vouchers are limited to one per household and can be redeemed at Molong, Canowindra and Orange veterinary clinics. Vouchers must be used before Friday, June 29.
PROGRESS MADE ON CROSS-SHIRE WATER PIPELINE
THE Molong to Cumnock and Yeoval pipeline to provide treated drinking water to Cumnock and Yeoval is progressing well.
The contractor, Leed Engineering and Construction, has completed the bulk earthworks and the tank pad for the new Cumnock reservoir site, including laying more than 2.3 kilometres of pipe on the outskirts of Molong and at the new reservoir site.
Steady progress is also being made at the new Molong pump station, with the concrete slab and block work completed.
The pump station will provide clear water from the Gidley Street reservoir in Molong to the new Cumnock reservoir.
The construction of more than 10 kilometres of pipeline from Orange to Molong Creek Dam has been completed and work on the next phase to Cumnock started in mid-January.
One of Cabonne Council’s largest infrastructure projects, the pipeline is backed by $16.7 million in funding from the NSW government under the Restart NSW Water Security for Regions program.
