This week Orange City’s Rickards Whiteley under 7s travelled to the sunshine of Dubbo.
In the first game we took on an undermanned Rhinos side and good sportsmanship was shown by the kids to loan them some players.
Lewis showed a step and a weave to score a hat-trick.
Cambell continued his good form to score a great try and Duncan showed a clean pair of heals to run the length of the field and score.
George was outstanding in all aspects of the game.
In game two we were up against Mudgee Wombats and Jess skipped into action making metres from everywhere and managing to score.
Troy dived through a hole in the defensive line and scored under the posts.
Rhyan found his groove and posted a couple of five-pointers. Addie also got in on the try- scoring act and made her mark in the corner.
In game three we faced the Roos and this was a game for the Tobies.
Tobie H’s defence was outstanding and Toby B was staying wide and probing for space. Lincoln also had a massive game putting his body on the line and creating holes for his outside support.

UNDER 9s
The third round of the Walla’s season brought Orange City’s Westruss under 9s to sunny Dubbo for their gala day.
With a solid training session under their belts, the team was expecting big things this week.
Game one pitted us against a well-drilled Orange Emus side which had our boys defending their line for most of the first half.
Thanks to the ever-present cover defence from Cooper Honeysett, Oliver Philpott and Connor Curran the score line could have been more than 8-0 to Emus.
With a quick pep talk from super coaches Hamling and Scoins, the boys were ready for game two against the Dubbo Rebels.
Our attacking game kicked into overdrive with Archie Buesnel and Archie Adamson making yards through the middle for the whippet Ollie Scoins to score out wide.
Tries followed to Cooper Honeysett and Emerson Page with Orange City running out winners 6-2.
With the team now in the groove, the final game against Dubbo Brumbies was an opportunity to continue the attacking structures set by our super coaches.
With new buy Luke Rudman gaining confidence every minute the fired up Mortimer Hamling took control of the game for Caleb Anthony and Oliver Philpott to run in quick tries.
The score finished with a solid 7-3 win.
Leading try-scorers for the day were Emerson Page and Cooper Honeysett with three each.
Well done boys, great effort this week and thanks to the parents for their support of Orange City Junior Rugby.
- Eighteen70 Restaurant best and fairest: Cooper Honeysett
- Westruss players’ player: Emerson Page
UNDER 11s
Game one for Orange City’s PJL under-11 Lions was an away local derby in Dubbo against Emus Green.
The City boys were slow out of the blocks despite the later than usual start. Levi Cheney tried to inspire his team by contesting strongly at the breakdown.
With not much to write about in the first half the boys stopped for oranges and rest for the second.
Hayden Buesnel tried a change of tact and ran the ball to score City’s first try. Next kick off Emus seemed to have the edge but an unprofitable run down the sideline resulted in a City scrum, Charlie Miller linked with Hayden to score the second try of the half.
Archer Murphy broke through the defence only to go frustratingly close to the try-line.
Strong defensive tackling from Bryn Whittaker and Max Plokstys wasn’t enough to stop the Emus’ impressive support play, City going down 6-2.
With renewed energy, City showed great support for their teammates in attack in game two.
A half-field breakaway by Charlie led to City’s first try. Heath Vaughan ran tight angles to draw the opposition, finished off by textbook passing to put his teammates into clear space.
Another strong defensive by effort Jackson Davis who is quickly mastering the game and impressive cover defence from Leo Vaughan stopping a certain Forbes try.
Henry Heath left the defence scrambling to cover with his blistering runs.
Scores were deadlocked at 1-1 at half time.
Two penalties after the half time break deep within the City half had the boys on their heels, but good passing saw the backs move the ball out of danger.
Oscar Cawse took plenty of strong hit-ups. Noah Warren ran the ball on the wing trying to find some space against a wall of strong Forbes defence.
Time the enemy of both teams scores locked at 2-2 at the final whistle.
Game three of the day for the Lions was against home team Dubbo Rhinos, with several City boys willing to swap jerseys in a warming display of sportsmanship to help make up Rhinos’ numbers.
James Ashton consistently pinched the ball out of the ruck.
Mitch Duncan broke away only to be brought down on the 22 and much of the first half was played in Rhinos’ territory.
A try just on half-time to Dylan Jones stepping through the opposition may have come at a cost with a right foot injury.
Oscar Cheney also started from the sideline with a sore knee but re-entered the game with some probing running.
Ollie Scofield broke down the sideline from the kick off only to be bought down by a gallant covering Rhinos tackle.
Edward Ashton wrecked the Rhinos defence scoring four second-half tries, City going home victors 5-0.

- Westruss best and fairest: Jackson Davis
UNDER 13s
Mixed emotions this week for Orange City’s Broadley and Haydon Accountants under-13 Lions, both elation at coming away with a win over Emus but also great concern as they watched their teammate, Oliver Bennie, taken to hospital.
Unfortunately Olly has suffered a fracture in his C4 vertebrae and will be donning a collar for some time during his rehabilition period, be fortunately for this brave young man he will be okay in the long run.
The Lions will miss him, as he is a most valuable player in the loosehead prop position and we wish him all the best for his recovery.
A big thank you to Lee Cornish, Emus and everyone who helped look after Olly on the day, and for their support afterward.
The score at the conclusion was 17-12 to Orange City, thanks to Emus for a great game too.
With Alex O’Brien as captain the Lions came out attacking and it wasn’t long until Jake Philpott left the Emus defence in his wake, sprinting across the line for his first of two tries.
Andrew Ingham then lined up the posts perfectly, the ball sailing through for the conversion.
The fast hands of Hamish Ingham, Oliver Livingstone and Tallis Thomas wouldn’t have even left fingerprints on the ball and a pass to Lily Bone saw her fly over the line for her first try of the season.
Edward Southwell was again valuable on the right wing with several sprints up the sideline, with Harry Mulligan on the left supporting Darcy Harris and Jack Petty in the centres.
Jack Glynn, Patrick Haydon and Olly Bennie were again a formidable front row.
Lachlan Hobbs’ quick thinking gave him the intercept of the day and Trixie Ward was solid in defence, never shying away from tackling the opposition.

UNDER 17s
Orange City’s Woodward Street Quality Meats under 17s travelled to Dubbo this weekend to face the tough Kangaroos Blue side with only 11 players.
Dubbo started the game strong, scoring four early tries, City then steadied the game with some strong defence from Logan Mason, Will Ryan and Ben Winslade.
After some good attacking play from Trent Maguire and Trent Johnson, Bailey Mannix barged his way over the line to score a try.
Dubbo led 27-5 at the half-time break.
The boys started stronger in the second half, Will Mclean and Trent Johnson were continually attacking Dubbos defence with good footwork and speed, this lead to Nick McDonald scoring a try after regaining a chip kick from Will Mclean.
The defensive efforts from Sam Ostini, Sam Woodhouse and Angus Barnes was excellent preventing Dubbos outside backs from scoring on numerous occasions.
The coaching staff were proud of the effort from boys and the sportsmanship of the Dubbo team that lent us players for the game, the final score was 35-10 in Dubbo’s favour.
The team would also like to congratulate Jack Nunn, Henry Bouffler, Tom Francis and Nick O’Hara for being selected in the Central West under-16 team that played in the country championship at Bathurst last weekend.

ORANGE EMUS
UNDER 13s
There’s nothing quite like a local derby no matter what age group or grade it’s in and last weekend’s under 13s encounter proved that, the Lions running out 17-12 winners in a really tight game of rugby.
The whole Emus team, club and family would like to wish young Olly Bennie the very best of luck in his recovery after fracturing his neck on Saturday morning, a terrible injury to suffer but we’re all very thankful word has filtered through that he should be okay after rehabilitation. Olly’s a very brave young man.
Orange City just proved too good for our boys in green on the weekend.
Paddy Toberty was excellent in the carry all day, as was tighthead prop Phillip Harris while the entire backline combined really well when the boys spread it wide.
A big congratulations to Orange City on the win, and the turnaround from round one when our boys won 66-17 at Pride Park.
UNDER 15s
The boys in green have moved within touching distance of the top four after a great come-from-behind win over the combined Wellington and Parkes side, named the Red Boars.
They’re always a really tough opposition and proved so again on Saturday morning.
Our Emus opened the scoring to lead 5-0 on Saturday but the Red Boars charged back into the contest with two quick tries before the break to lead 14-5 at half-time.
The Emus boys had the better of the second half, outscoring the Red Boars 21-7 in the second period to run out 26-21 victors.

CYMS GOLD
It was a perfect autumn morning for CYMS Gold to take the field against CYMS Blue on Saturday, it was great to hear so many parents and supporters cheering and showing encouragement for both teams on the sideline. CYMS Blue were tough competition and impressive to watch in defence.
Our player of the week Oliver Miller gave it his all, putting himself wherever was needed in defence and attack, his impressive ball control and passes helped us secure the win.
I love seeing how these boys are growing in the game as there skills are improving, as is their confidence in their ability each week.
CYMS GREEN
CYMS Green played a strong game against CYMS Orange. Levi Grelli showed his accurate passing skills, while Tom Ridding and Lewis Hinchcliff combined well to move the ball up the field.
Seth Bayada and Jack Flitcroft gained good metres for the team from their powerful goal kicks.
Congratulations to Heidi Barrett for player of the week and thanks to our sponsor PJL Group.
