Danilo Sotelo and wife Mariyam Awad plan to make the shop the chocolate centre of Orange.
Mr Sotelo said they planned to sell Nutella pizzas, churros and waffles to complement the range of hot chocolate drinks, individual chocolates and coffees.
They have already extended the business hours to trade at night and open seven days.
“I motivated people to be healthy and now I am running a chocolate shop,” he said.
“I’ve never run a coffee shop before but I have a passion for food.”
He said they wanted to open their own business but could not afford to stay in Sydney.
“I’ve been to Kiama, Wollongong, Cessnock, Bathurst and Dubbo and we picked Orange,” he said.
“The people are quite friendly, it is developing.
“We are quite happy to be in Orange.
Mr Sotelo said it was a family business that would appeal to families.
BEER AWARDS
Orange region brewers Pioneer Brewing Co have only been in business for six months but have already won a silver and a bronze medal at the Australian International Beer Awards in Melbourne last week.
Brewer Peter Gerber said their Vienna Lager won a silver medal for lagers while their Amber Ale took out a bronze medal in the Best American Style Red amber ale/dark ale category.
“We are still in shock, we entered purely to receive the judges’ feedback and never expected any success,” he said.
“It is the first awards we have entered.”
Mr Gerber said their farm-based brewery was one of only four in Australia and relied on rain water caught on the farm for brewing.
The awards, now in their 25th year, are claimed to be the largest annual beer competition in the Asia Pacific region.
About 65 judges assessed 1800 entries from breweries in Australia and overseas.
ART ON SHOW
Frame Effect is a place people go to get their own art works and purchases framed.
But now the business, run by Jim and Leiarna Dunworth, is expanding to offer a commerical art gallery space.
Mrs Dunworth said the aim was to feature a different artist’s work each month with the art for sale.
She said the Peisley Street business had been renovated for the gallery.
Mrs Dunworth said she had hired a curator with the first exhibition to open in a few weeks.
“I think there is a real call for it in Orange,” she said.
