The smoke seen over the city and to the east of Orange is part of the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) hazard reduction burns, which have begun across the state.
Saturday’s burns are taking place at Deervale Lane and Lakes Ave at Clifton Grove, which is targeting fire fuels to provide future protection to properties next summer.
A statement released by Canobolas Zone RFS said the burn will potentially generate smoke over several days.
While Canobolas Zone RFS operations manager Brett Bowden said the RFS would do all it could to restrict smoke, residents near the burn might seek to keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes and remove washing from clothes lines.
