But a conversation overheard between two youngsters about Anzac Day’s meaning should put those fears to rest.
The siblings were standing by their parents’ side watching the proceedings at Wednesday’s Dawn Service.
The boy, about eight years old, began to fidget during a silent and particularly solemn part of the ceremony.
“Stand still,” hissed his marginally younger sister, “and show some respect for our soldiers.”
“You’re right, I’ll try,” the boy replied earnestly.
Lest we forget? That doesn’t seem likely.
