Not Mario Kart – although chances are he’s probably got you covered there as well – but bona fide, on the track Kart racing, where there are no blue shells or bananas to save you as he weaves ahead and leaves you in the metaphorical dust.
This isn’t an exaggeration – Robinson managed the perfect performance last year to take home the the 2017 NSW Kart Championship in the TaG 125 Heavy class.
The Championships were held as a Series over three rounds and Robinson remained undefeated in every race.
The 34 year old from Orange will commence the defence of his Championship crown when the first round of the 2018 NSW Kart Championships is held in Coffs Harbour this weekend.
“I had to dig deep in the round at Tamworth last year because I hadn’t raced there for a few years,” Robinson said,
“It’s the same with Coffs Harbour this weekend. I haven’t raced there before.”

- Brett Robinson
The veteran racer has been on the track since he was seven years old, and if anything time has increased his competitive edge.
This season, he’ll be contesting in two Championship classes – with two types of engine and karts – the TaG 125 Heavy and KA3 Senior Medium.
While he was clear first in the TaG last year – Robinson came home with 154 points from three rounds, with Luke Seymour and Ben Ritchie behind him on 117 and 113 respectively – he didn't enjoy the same success in the KA3, finishing sixth on 98 points, well behind winner Matthew Waters on 221.
He’s not expecting the defence of his TaG 125 Heavy Championship crown to be easy, far from it.
Robinson is expecting tough competition from Ritchie and Seymour.
“He [Seymour] was runner up last year and just like me he will have his eye on the prize.”
The opening round of the NSW Kart Championship has attracted 166 entries from all parts of NSW plus interstate competitors from Queensland and Western Australia.
The program of racing will take place over three days, Friday 27, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 April in nine Championship classes.
Round two will be held in Dubbo from July 13 to 15, while round three will be at Marrangaroo, near Lithgow, from September 28 to 30.
