Lee Van Den Bos’ five-year-old Beau Hoffa is set to lug 55 kilograms in Wednesday’s Bathurst RSL Club Soldier’s Saddle Class 4 Handicap (1400 metres) at Tyers Park, where he’ll look to break his six-month winless run.

Beau Hoffa last won at Orange on October 16 last year before a spell, since resuming he’s picked up a trial win at Bathurst before running sixth in the Central Districts Country Championship Qualifier, fifth at Hawkesbury and then fifth at Towac Park too.
It won’t be easy for the Orange-trained gelding though, which will have Jake Pracey-Holmes in the saddle, considering the likes of David Smith’s Stilettoed Vixen and Bjorn Baker’s up-and-comer Mad For Art have both accepted too.
The latter, in particular, looks impressive leading in.
His last start was a sixth finish at Kensington but the three-year-old saluted in all three of his career starts prior to that and he loves the Bathurst track, two of those wins came at Tyers Park late last year.
He’ll have Greg Ryan on board too, as the celebrated hoop continues his long-standing partnership with Baker.
Stilettoed Vixen is second-up from a five-week freshen-up, his last start an 11th finish in the Country Championship Wildcard on April 1.
